Full Description

Required qualifications:
BS/BA in a biological science plus one year of relevant scientific experience or a combination of education and relevant scientific experience to total 5 years.

Preferred qualifications:
MS preferred in a biological science
Experience culturing intestinal organoids and intracellular parasites strongly preferred

Responsibilities:
Maintains murine intestinal organoid cultures. Establishes methods for culturing intestinal organoids from other species. (20%)
Optimizes parasite cultures in 2D cell culture and intestinal organoids. (15%)
Cultures environmental bacteria and tests bacterial cultures for anti-parasitic activity. (15%)
Performs standard assays in the laboratory: immunofluorescence assays, infection assays, real-time PCR and others as the need arises. (15%)
Oversees general laboratory maintenance and trains new employees in equipment use and lab techniques. (15%)
Works closely with PI to identify and troubleshoot problems as they arise and assists the PI in assuring that BL2 precautions are followed. (10%)
Train and supervises students and/or volunteers in the laboratory in coordination with PI. (10%)
