Ketcha Outdoors seeks a Kindergarten Teacher to lead the expansion of our Farm & Forest School to include a private kindergarten program. The ideal candidate will have a knowledge and enthusiasm for outdoor teaching methods. Our 107 acres include forest and fields, a pond, streams, hiking trails and an educational farm. Our built facilities support our students and their learning needs with modern classroom spaces, a gymnasium and function hall, a 100 foot barn, and two new yurt shelters both insulated and heated.
Comfort and safety are a priority both outdoors and when we bring the learning indoors.Were looking for a certified Teacher with a passion for cultivating a nature based curriculum, an academic integration of all content areas and learning standards. The successful candidate will readily gear up for all weather in all seasons, be enthusiastic to lead lessons in outdoor spaces, and be devoted to supporting students to play openly and independently in natural settings. Were looking for a dedicated teaching professional to partner with us to launch and grow this exciting new extension of our established Farm & Forest School programs.Qualifications and Education Requirements: Bachelor Degree. Teaching Certificate in the State of Maine.
CPR/first aid. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Computer proficiency. Physical requirements are: adequate mobility, strength and stamina for being outdoors in all seasons, and for lifting and moving materials and assisting students as needed.Preferred Skills: Experience in outdoor teaching is preferred but we are confident the right candidate will readily learn the philosophy and methods of outdoor academics.
Experience with farm animals is an asset but all duties related to the farm setting can be taught.Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience. Benefits package includes excellent health, dental, and vision plans as well as paid vacation and when criteria are met for a Simple IRA plan with a 3% match.
