New job DOH Intern - Correctional Health Nurse (Fall) in South Dakota

• APPLICANT MUST BE A FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 12 CREDIT HOURS) IN THE SEMESTER IN WHICH YOU APPLY.

Position Description:
Intern will assist the nursing staff at the Jameson Annex with miscellaneous nursing functions and assessing the medical needs of the male inmate population. Duties will include: observing patients for reactions to treatment or any unusual condition as care is delivered, reporting adverse conditions to licensed nurse or RN, administering oral medications, entering data into the computer and processing a variety of forms and paperwork. Intern will assist with the implementation of patient care plan.

Qualifications:
Applicant must be a full-time student at a college, university or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the applicant should have at least a sophomore standing or currently be enrolled at a technical institute and have completed one year (nine months).

Preference will be given to South Dakota residents and students of South Dakota institutions.

Applicant must be enrolled in a LPN or RN program, willing to complete a Med Aid course (if necessary), and able to work a variety of shifts. Candidates will be subject to an extensive criminal background check as well as drug screening prior to employment as an intern.

Minimum Salary: $14.80
