Under general supervision processes all criminal warrants upon receipt.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Enters criminal warrants into Texas Crime Information Center and the National Crime Information Center (TCIC/NCIC) system and updates electronic files
  • Maintain statistics and prepare reports
  • Contacts law enforcement agencies and other outside agencies to verify if warrant is active
  • Receives from law enforcement officers, investigators or medical examiners crime scene evidence and/or seized property
  • Answers telephone, routes calls and takes messages utilizing some discretion
  • Performs filing and other clerical activities
  • Performs other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate, and three (3) years data entry, general office or administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Good knowledge of Texas Criminal Penal Codes; good knowledge of TCIC/NCIC codes and extradition laws; knowledge of basic office procedures
  • Skill in operating personal computer and basic office equipment; skill in coding, filing and organizing data
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions and strict operating procedures; ability to maintain records, compile data and organize reports; ability to communicate with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other government agencies, outside organizations, co-workers, other County employees, news media and the general public
  • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
  • Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
  • Must be certified TCIC/NCIC every two (2) years
  • May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
  • Constantly working in indoor conditions
  • Occasionally moves items weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Occasionally moves about the office
  • Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Positions self to perform essential functions
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position
