Overview:
The Protective Security Officer (PSO) is responsible for access control and detecting, delaying, detaining, and/or apprehending persons attempting to gain unauthorized access to Government property or otherwise violating laws, rules, and regulations. The PSO shall also identify, report, delay, or detain those persons who violate the rules and regulations as appropriate and in accordance with Post Orders. PSOs must also remain vigilant to observe and provide emergency response to a variety of hazards.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide on-site protection services
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with the duties outlined in Post Orders
  • Shall not deviate from the directions provided by the Post Orders except in emergencies or as directed by the COR
  • Perform a variety of security-related duties, depending on the type of posts assigned
  • Provide briefings to on-coming PSOs of the recent, continuing, or anticipated events and occurrences for the post
  • Maintain logs, reports, and files of all incidents and occurrences encountered during the tour of duty
  • Provide personal escort services for designated personnel, visitors, etc., when directed to do so by the COR
  • Ensure compliance with the contract and to meet customer needs
  • Read and become familiar with Security Guard Information Manual (SGIM) prior to assuming duties
  • Carry firearm license/permit on person while on duty (Unless local or state law requires the Contractor to maintain the records)
Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Speak, understand, read and write the English language fluently
  • Secret security clearance granted by the Defense Security Service pursuant to the requirements of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and the NISP Operating Manual (NISPOM) prior to starting work under this contract
  • High school diploma or a GED equivalency certificate
  • One (1) year experience as a certified armed Security Officer
  • Basic knowledge of and familiarity in the operation of pan/tilt/zoom camera equipment, automated bollards, magnetometers, x-ray machines, computerized access control systems, CCTV systems, and two-way radio systems
  • Basic knowledge of and familiarity in the duties of a Command Post dispatcher.
  • Certified in CPR, First Aid, and the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
  • Certified to perform private security guard services in the state where the services are provided
