Description

The City of Westerville seeks a tech-savvy HR Coordinator to round out our team. You must have HRIS administration experience and a strong desire to support a fast-paced office while delivering highly personable customer service.

NATURE OF WORK
The position assists in the administration of human resources services: recruitment, benefits, training, wellness, risk, and safety in direct support of all City departments. Work involves records management and data entry for a variety of payroll, performance management, recruitment and retention efforts as well as special projects administration.

SUPERVISION
Work is performed under the direction of the Human Resources Manager. Employee must be able to exercise independent judgment and decision-making. Must provide excellent internal and external customer service and teaming for citywide programs and projects. Work is reviewed regularly through meetings and performance appraisals.

SUPERVISION

Effectively utilizes software and systems to collect, assemble and disseminate any variety of HR related data and information

Manages the recruitment and onboarding process from beginning to the closing of a vacancy

Manages and maintains the online job application software by establishing hiring manager designations, maintaining recruitment files and preparing selection correspondence.

Assists hiring managers with the processing of applications throughout each step of the hiring process.

Proficiently performs public records request that pertain to employee's personnel files, background files, and applicant's onboarding information.

Assists Human Resources Manager with implementing entry level and promotional testing.

Manages human resource's records retention and destruction of documents.Assists in management of the workers compensation program; may attend worker's compensation hearings, processes claims, tracks injury leave, maintains WC files for each injured worker

May assist in administering the City's performance evaluation software and be held responsible for providing software training.

May assist in the development and review of human resources, benefits and risk control trainings for all City departments.

May assist in tracking and maintaining accurate records for: FMLA leave claims, COBRA compliance, Worker's Compensation, PERRP/OSHA documents and determinations.

May serve on the City Wide Safety Team and acts as a resource for the committee by providing information about related topics or work related injuries.

May assist with the City's Wellness Committee programs and events including the Safety Wellness & Benefits Fair.

May assist the Human Resources Manager with providing talent management support to all City departments

Assist in the the City's door access control software and coordinates City identification badges for all employees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK

Possession of a Bachelors degree in human resources, public administration, business, political science, psychology, or a related field and three years of office work experience.

Possess an open-minded, change-management focus - consistently striving for excellence through discovery and creative application of emerging tools and technologies.

Considerable knowledge of computer software programs.

Knowledge of municipal government operations.

Familiarity with worker's compensation system.

Understanding of OSHA safety requirements.

Ability to analyze issues and assemble related data.

Ability to work with a variety of individuals and to formulate consensus among group members.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Working knowledge of human resource administration.

Must have a valid driver's license from the State of Ohio or the ability to obtain one within the first 3 months of service.


HEALTH BENEFITS
Employees pay 15% of the monthly medical insurance premium though United Healthcare which includes prescription coverage. Employee, Employee plus child(ren), Employee plus spouse and family coverage is available. However, a spouse who has affordable health care coverage through their employer must elect that coverage as primary. The City health care plan is a high deductible healthcare plan.

VISION AND DENTAL
The City pays 100% of the premium for dental and vision. Coverage levels will be explained in further detail at time of hire.

LIFE INSURANCE
The City pays 100% of the premium on a $100,000 life insurance policy for employee and $10,000 for spouse and $5,000 for child.

RETIREMENT PENSION
The City contributes 14% monthly toward retirement benefits offered through the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System. The employee pension payment share is 10% of gross salary.

VACATION
New employees accrue two weeks of paid vacation every year. Vacation time increases with length of service time.

PERSONAL LEAVE
Employees receive 6 prorated days of personal leave annually.
