NORESCO's Sustainability Services Group performs energy auditing, commissioning, technical studies, sustainable certifications and consulting work. We work with clients ranging from private commercial and multi-family owners to labs, healthcare facilities and government buildings. Our focus is on finding opportunities to improve buildings — both new and existing.
We have an immediate need for Sustainability Consultant in our New York City, NY Office
As a Sustainability Consultant you will be a member of the Sustainability Services team and will execute a variety of projects for the Managers on our team supporting modeling and building certifications.
In order to be successful in this position, you will need to perform the following tasks.
  • Develop detailed building energy, life cycle assessment (LCA), and/or daylight models by evaluating building systems (lighting, HVAC and envelope), determining building characteristics and takeoffs from plans, and creating building geometry;
  • Work with project managers to support projects that are pursuing LEED, WELL, Fitwel, Green Globes, BREEAM, Energy STAR, Zero programs, and Healthy Building ratings;
  • Participate in and help facilitate meetings with the client and project team;
  • Provide clear and well-written documents to various clients (building owners, architects, engineers) regarding project specific results;
  • Perform calculations for applicable opportunities in a given rating system;
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in certifications, energy codes, carbon emissions, and embodied carbon strategies;
  • Ensure technical quality and accurate technical content of project-related documents.
In order to be considered for this position, you will need to have the following minimum requirements.
  • BS/MS in Architectural, Mechanical Engineering or related sustainability field;
  • Modeling experience with detailed hourly simulation, LCA and daylight modeling software products;
  • Expertise in ASHRAE 90.1 and IECC energy codes and applying them to energy models;
  • Working knowledge of and experience with the architectural design process and all phases of design and construction from pre-design to construction administration;
  • Interested in or on track to obtain LEED, WELL or other related Accreditation(s);
  • Expertise in building systems, energy efficiency technologies/applications and sustainability practices;
  • Detail oriented and can meet deadlines;
  • Excellent communication skills - oral, written, and presentation - and proficiency with necessary supporting software (Microsoft: Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years’ experience in a sustainability related field, preferably experience in building systems and building certifications;
  • Experience with simulation software programs tailored to sustainable design analysis;
  • Preferred certifications may include: LEED AP, WELL AP, BEMP and/or Certified Energy Manager;
  • On track to obtain Professional Engineer’s License.
