Brownfield and Environmental Due Diligence Consultant
Location

Job Summary
Fishbeck is seeking a Brownfield and Environmental Due Diligence Consultant to join our growing brownfield/due diligence team. The right candidate will have experience dealing directly with clients, attorneys, financial institutions, real estate agents, and state and local officials and the ability to market our services throughout southeast Michigan. Must have experience in preparing Brownfield Plans, grant and loan applications, and Act 381 Work Plans and all aspects of due diligence projects including baseline environmental assessments, Phase I and II environmental site assessments (ESAs), and due care plan development.
Primary Functions
  • Marketing brownfield and due diligence services in southeast Michigan.
  • Manage brownfield and environmental due diligence projects.
  • Prepare and review Brownfield Plans, grant and loan applications, and Act 381 Work Plans.
  • Provide quality control for project submittals.
  • Prepare and review reports that assess potential environmental liability risk.
  • Plan and lead Phase II ESAs.
  • Communicate with clients, staff members, and vendors.
Minimum Physical Requirements
Exposed to occasional lifting and carrying. Will have normal office working conditions and be required to sit, use a computer, and maneuver project sites at times. Capable of traveling to and maneuvering around project sites for attending client and project meetings and site observations. Able to use various technical equipment for communication and documentation. Visual acuity necessary to perform responsibilities.
Desired Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or related field.
Desired Skills/Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental consulting working on brownfield and environmental due diligence projects. Michigan based experience is a must.
  • Proven track record of selling services to developers and local units of government.
  • Knowledge of ASTM Phase I standards and understanding core business and legal concepts of business transactions.
  • Familiar with Act 381 of Michigan’s Brownfield Redevelopment Financing Act.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills associated with writing technical reports.
  • A working knowledge of the State of Michigan environmental regulations and requirements.
  • Knowledge of potential grant and other funding sources for redevelopment projects.
  • Experience with federal programs and work outside of Michigan a plus.
  • Working knowledge of asbestos building material identification, sampling, and inspection a plus.
