About this role:

As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk - or Independent Risk Management - provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk.

Home Lending Servicing Risk is seeking a driven, experienced professional to be responsible for leading the analysis, evaluation, development, and risk management of servicing policy for areas that may include collateral, collateral, title operations, loss recognition, foreclosure determination and delegated credit approval authority (DCAA). The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast paced, highly visible environment and credibly challenging Front Line business partners.

In this role, you will:
  • Act as a subject matter expert and provide thought leadership in one or more of the following areas: collateral, title operations, loss recognition, foreclosure determination, and DCAA for Serviced for Others portfolios (Fannie, Freddie, USDA, FHA, VA), Private investors and Wells Owned accounts
  • Evaluate risk in our programs executed by our line of business partners.
  • Craft policies and strategies that mitigate all risks including credit, operational, reputational, and regulatory / legal risks. Partner with the line of business, operational risk, compliance, and legal to ensure efficient, accurate, and well controlled execution of policies, strategies, and programs.
  • Evaluate and understand financial impacts of our programs
  • Build and implement processes to monitor risks in servicing programs.
  • Understand regulations and investor guidance to ensure we comply.
  • Make recommendations and credibly challenge to improve programs and execution.
  • Develop and help monitor controls to minimize risk.
  • Support automation of mortgage servicing by ensuring accurate translation of policy and strategy requirements into technology.
  • Identify and drive forward opportunities to streamline processes and increase operational efficiency.
  • Identify and escalate issues timely and ensure business is driving to resolution on all issues.
  • Participate in internal and external exams.
  • Communicate to senior leaders, build strong partnerships across Risk Management, Servicing, Legal, Operational Risk, Compliance, and Accounting.
  • Lead the management and oversight of delegation of authority processes within our business for areas of expertise
Required Qualifications, US:
  • 4+ years of Credit Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills. Ability to clearly and concisely communicate (both written and verbal) with business partners, peers and senior management and lead discussions.
  • Superior ability to identify, evaluate, aggregate, and challenge risks - balancing the impact to customers, business, and bank.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction; superior ability to exercise independent judgment and apply prudent risk mitigation principles
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other business and functional areas
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to thoroughly research and analyze options and impacts of solutions
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills
  • Proficiency in mortgage servicing systems and applicable tools
  • Understanding of the Credit Approval Process (CAP) and delegated credit approval authority (DCAA)
  • Advanced writing skills
  • Knowledge of collateral requirements or title operations for consumer mortgage products
  • Ability to create and present written proposals
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and think strategically across multiple portfolios/investors from an end to end servicing view
