Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM):

Our mission is to implement federal and state regulations to protect human health and the environment while allowing the environmentally sound operations of industrial, agricultural, commercial, and governmental activities vital to a prosperous economy. We issue air, water, and solid and hazardous waste permits that restrict discharges to environmentally safe levels. Staff members inspect and monitor regulated entities; provide compliance and technical assistance; monitor and assess air, land, and water quality; use enforcement actions as necessary to ensure compliance; and respond to incidents involving spills to soil or waters of the state.


Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $34,216.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.


Role Overview
:

The person in this position is responsible for entering new applications into the Air Permits Tracking database administration, serving as Master File Administrator for Air Permits Tracking Database, which includes researching Agency Interest location information, and locking and reconciling data to the TEMPO Master File. The person in the position also serves as a backup for staff who process Public Notice, Proposed, and Final Permits.

As the Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for working within an office environment to support your agency with tasks as required to complete the position’s responsibilities. In this position, you will be required to perform job-related duties using established procedures. In this role, you will work closely with your supervisor and can gain additional skills to further your career growth.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Type updates and maintain policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for administrative activities such as sorting mail, ordering supplies, processing travel, etc.
  • Schedule and maintain calendars for meetings, travel, and activities.
  • Prepare information and take notes for meetings as needed.
  • Answer and direct incoming correspondence to the appropriate individual.

  • Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
