Hiring Range: B04: $45,917 - $68,868 ($57,399 midpoint) *Typical hiring range is at or below midpoint - DOE; Hiring authority reserves right to underfill if the applicant pool dictates.

***Position location*** - to be discussed during interviews; remote work may be allowed for ND residents that live in-state.

Summary of Work


This position primarily assists two BND Business Bankers in streamlining the loan workflow process by coordinating with the Financial Institutions Market Manger, the Loan Administration Manager, other BND business bankers, lead bank loan officers and processors, credit analysts, and BND loan servicing associates. They act as a secondary point of contact for incoming calls and e-mails from lead banks as it relates to their assigned business banker’s portfolios. This position is responsible for obtaining and organizing credit documentation to prepare files for underwriting, generating correspondence and documentation checklists, coordinating loan funding with lead banks and BND loan servicing associates, and processing on-going loan documentation. This position works closely with their BND business bankers by researching discrepancies, communicating program eligibility and parameters, and fostering the partnerships with BND participating lenders through positive interactions.


Duties and Tasks

  • Process Credit Applications (20% of time)
    Input applications into pipeline reporting software and review loan documentation received to ensure complete underwriting package prior to submission to credit analysts.
    Coordinate with BND bankers, participating financial institution bankers, and credit analysts to ensure timely underwriting of credit.
    Process any loan request withdrawals.
    Assist in training new staff and provide feedback to senior-level management on process improvement.
  • Process Credit Presentation (40% of time)
    Prepare commitment letters utilizing information from credit presentations and prepare other related documents specific to BND loan programs.
    Prepare revised commitment letters outlining approved changes.
    Create documentation checklist based on loan type, collateral, and borrower and guarantor structure on DOSS (pipeline and ongoing documentation tracking software).
    Ensure all new loans are recorded on appropriate data collection software.
    Assist in training new staff and provide feedback to senior-level management on process improvement.
  • On-going Portfolio Management (40% of time)
    Complete initial loan file review and request any outstanding documentation from lead financial institutions.
    Track, request, and review technical exceptions. Update DOSS tracking system. File and maintain original and imaged loan documents.
    Maintain organization in assigned Business Banker’s working files.
    Assist with research of past-due loan reports; review monthly core system tickler reports; prepare system maintenance for modifications, extensions, and rate discrepancies.
    Assist in training new staff and provide feedback to senior-level management on process improvement.

Minimum Qualifications


Requires an associate degree in finance, business, or a closely related field of study and three years of work experience in commercial, agriculture, or real estate loan documentation or lending. Additional work experience as described may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of banking software systems to include documentation preparation systems and documentation imaging software
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with diverse colleagues and customers.
  • Proven capability to handle multiple high priority tasks
  • Previous experience with loan file review
