Overview

The position is responsible for the following:
~plans, develops, implements, and evaluates communications,

~marketing, and public outreach to promote programs and achieve desired outcomes for divisions and the department,

~serving as webmaster for the department's public website,

~writes, edits, designs, and produces the department's outreach and education materials,

~serves as liaison between DCF staff and technical staff at the National Information Consortium (NIC) around the need for, and development of, web applications,

~serves as liaison between DCF staff and marketing agencies around campaigns that involve buying space/ads on social media,

~provides guidance, coaching, and training for other staff in the department who do work related to marketing, outreach, media relations, and communications

Class Definition
Planning, coordination, and advisory work at a professional level involving public outreach, marketing, and website administration for the Department for Children and Families. The primary purpose of this position is to provide the department's constituents with timely and accurate information about the department's policies, programs, services, and resources using a variety of means and formats to accommodate their diverse needs and to ensure communications across the department are well coordinated, effectively delivered, cost effective, and responsive to the needs of our constituents. Work is performed independently under the general direction of the DCF Commissioner or Commissioner's designee.
Environmental Factors
Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting, with some travel to outside meetings, for which private means of transportation must be available. Some work outside of normal office hours may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, media communications, or an equally pertinent field and one (1) year of technical/professional experience in marketing, publicity, public relations, or public outreach.

OR

Associate degree in English, journalism, media communications, or an equally pertinent field and two (2) years of technical/professional experience in marketing, publicity, public relations, or public outreach.

OR

Three (3) years of technical/professional experience in marketing, publicity, public relations, or public outreach.
