Purpose of Position

THIS IS A CONTINUIOUS JOB POSTING AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL THE POSITION IS FILLED

THIS POSITION IS FOR A PSYCHIATRIC TECH THAT WILL WORK 11PM-730AM THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY AND MONDAY. ONLY PARTIES INTERESTED IN THIS WORKING SCHEDULE SHOULD APPLY.

Why does the job exist?

To provide direct care of adults with a primary substance misuse diagnosis and co-occurring mental health
issues. Monitor patients' physical and emotional well-being and report to medical and nursing staff. Facilitate
recovery groups with patient population, assist patients in moving through their daily schedule, and
supervising patients for safety purposes.

How does it get done?

Direct Care staff will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide nursing, psychiatric and personal care
to individuals with substance misuse issues and co-occurring mental health issues. Their main
responsibilities include, assisting with patient personal hygiene and transitioning to hourly programming
throughout the day. Psychiatric technicians facilitate daily recovery-oriented groups per facility curriculum,
observe patients behavioral patterns and reports findings to multidisciplinary team members. If needed, they
will intervene to de-escalate potentially agitated and/or deregulated patients. Direct Care staff teach patients
basic living and working skills in a therapeutic milieu setting. Direct Care staff also are trained to monitor a
patients condition by taking blood pressure readings and pulse, respiration, and temperature as clinically

Minimum Qualification

High School Diploma and two (2) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties of the classification.

Working Conditions

Executive Order 2021-066 requires all employees with the State of New Mexico to provide either proof of COVID-19 vaccination (including proof of a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster dose) or proof of a COVID-19 viral test every week.

The Public Health Order (on Vaccination) dated December 2, 2021, requires Congregate Care Facility Workers and Hospital Workers to have received a primary series of vaccination by October 6, 2021, and a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster.
