What You'll Be Doing
Child Protective Services (CPS) is responsible for protecting children and enhancing their overall well-being by supporting and strengthening families. This is a fantastic opportunity for those interested in helping children, and to begin a rewarding career in our Child Welfare Program! Wake County Health and Human Services (WCHHS) is the consolidation of programs and services that include social services, public health, job search assistance, child support, and transportation. Our mission, in partnership with the community, is to facilitate full access to high quality and effective health and human services for Wake County residents. In addition to our numerous standard programs, Wake County Health and Human Services (WCHHS) is engaged in a number of special initiatives that are impacting services and programs throughout our entire agency. Whether legislated down from the changing regulations on the Federal or State level or bubbling up from the entrepreneurial spirit of our staff, you can always look forward to Wake County Health and Human Services implementing new and exciting enhancements to our services and programs.
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
Experience in North Carolina State data systems, criminal searches etc.
Associates Degree
Experience in supporting a Child Welfare Program or with trauma
Two years or more of administrative experience
Notary Public and a valid driver license

Attention to detail, effective time management and the ability to multi-task and prioritize independently
Possess good interpersonal skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills to process various work assignments
The ability to work with the general public and remain client focused and professional at all times

Location: Human Services Center Departure Drive Raleigh, NC 27616
Employment Type: Regular
Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 8:30 am - 5:15pm
Hiring Range: $18.20 - $22.07 commensurate with experience

Primary job functions include:
- Performing reception duties and functioning as the department initial point of contact
- Processing and preparing each assessment/new report prior to a CPS worker meeting with the family
- Checking databases; completing criminal record checks, and retrieving previous records for the family
- Processing documents in a timely manner
- Assisting with special projects and other duties as requested
- Clearing background checks on individuals 16 yrs. old and older to ensure safety of children
