What You'll Be Doing

Child Protective Services (CPS) is responsible for protecting children and enhancing their overall well-being by supporting and strengthening families. This is a fantastic opportunity for those interested in helping children, and to begin a rewarding career in our Child Welfare Program! Come join this dynamic team and make a difference in the lives of Wake County children!! Work is currently a hybrid model (both virtual and remote.)

Primary job functions include:
  • Performing reception duties and functioning as the department initial point of contact
  • Processing and preparing each assessment/new report prior to a CPS worker meeting with the family
  • Checking databases; completing criminal record checks, and retrieving previous records for the family
  • Processing documents in a timely manner
  • Assisting with special projects and other duties as requested
  • Clearing background checks on individuals 16 yrs. old and older to ensure safety of children

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of administrative/office support experience
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
Experience in North Carolina State data systems, criminal searches etc.
Associates Degree
Experience in supporting a Child Welfare Program or with trauma
Two years or more of administrative experience
Notary Public and a valid driver license

Employment Type: Regular

Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 8:30 am - 5:15pm

Hiring Range: $18.20 - $22.07 commensurate with experience
