Job Description:
At Regions, the Payroll Administrator is responsible for processing payroll, maintains payroll records, and provides support for payroll related questions and research. Associates at this level follows established payroll laws and internal guidelines and identifies and resolves moderately complex problems. Associates rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Associates at this level will exhibit strong basic executional capabilities and are beginning to take on more responsibility.

Primary Responsibilities
Prepares and processes biweekly, monthly, and off cycle payrolls
Prepares, documents, and disburses payroll checks, payroll taxes, wage withholding orders, and volunteer deductions, such as United Way
Prepares payroll reports for audit and review purposes
Computes, withholding and deductions associated with net earnings
Adheres to all internal and external audit standards
Maintains compliance with all payroll regulations
Responds to all legal inquires and subpoenas
Submits accurate files to the General Ledger
Ensures accuracy of time off balances
May be responsible for uploading and balancing monthly bonus/commission payroll
May be responsible for testing new configurations
Prepares and uploads data loads (EIBs)
Evaluates current systems, recommends, and develops operating efficiency improvements
May act as a resource for associates with less experience

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements
High school diploma or GED
Five (5) years of related experience

Preferences
Prior experience working with an automated time tracking system
Certified Pay Professional

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with sensitive information
Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet strict deadlines
Detail oriented and organized
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Strong knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the payroll field
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office products
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Understanding of wage and hour laws, as well as federal, state and local tax laws

Additional Job Description

At Regions, the Payroll Administrator is an important member of the Payroll team and will be responsible for payroll accounting as well as payroll integration activities in support of corporate mergers and acquisitions. The associate will process journal entries for the bi-weekly and monthly payrolls, reconcile payroll accounts on a monthly basis, and provide support to finance as needed. In addition, the associate will develop and execute M&A playbook procedures for Payroll and work closely with the Payroll Manager on M&A integration projects. The successful candidate should exhibit clear project management, data analysis, critical reasoning, problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills and have comprehensive experience within the payroll function.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Partners with the Payroll Manager to develop and update the Payroll M&A playbook
  • Collaborates with HR Operations team members to execute various payroll specific transitions and communications •Interacts and partners with various teams across HR before, during, and after integrations
  • Project management and execution for payroll M&A integrations
  • Liaison with 3rd party vendors for M&A integration activities
  • Perform state and federal compliance review
  • Functions as a change management partner and participates in various go- live activities
  • Partners with the Payroll manager to develop and execute various payroll strategic objectives
  • Provides M&A testing support to the Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) team as needed
  • Performs other tasks / projects as assigned by the Payroll Manager

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.
