Description
It is the mission of the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives to provide information access for the citizens, businesses, and agencies of the Commonwealth. To help the state maintain its competitive edge, the department offers comprehensive services, which assure that our clientele, have access to information resources: virtual, physical and human. As one of 10 state agencies in the country to combine library, archival, and public records programs, the department is uniquely positioned to meet these needs. Our programs are structured to link the enduring resources of archival collections with the contemporary information resources of government and libraries.

We are seeking a charismatic and customer service oriented individual to join our team as a Librarian I- KDLA. The successful candidate for this position will have experience with research and reference materials and knowledge of digital information systems and library cataloging tools. A passion for information literacy and a dedication to quality customer service is highly preferred.

This position will be located in the Archival Services Branch and will staff the Archives Research Room, which provides customers access to public records in the Departments' collections in addition to offering research and reference assistance for on-site and off-site customers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provides research and reference assistance for on-site and off-site customers for the Archives Research Room.
  • Handles fragile historical records and responds to reference and research requests from a variety of platforms.
  • Provides webinar trainings throughout the year to state government and public library employees.
  • Catalogs and classifies department materials using bibliographic catalogs and digital preservation systems.
  • Maintains records and reports related to reference and research services and materials.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in Library Science.
