Job Description
The purpose of the class is to provide security, custody and control of inmate workers and community service defendants participating in the inmate labor and community service programs of the Special Services Division; to ensure the safety of crew members, staff and the general public through the enforcement of strict program rules and regulations, and to perform related work as required. This class works according to; set procedures but uses judgement and prioritization for scheduling work activities; work is reviewed regularly by supervisor.
Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by formal training, special courses or self-education that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education or specialized advanced training in criminal justice, corrections or a closely related field.
Must possess a valid state driver"s license.
Must attend and obtain required certification from the S.C. Department of Corrections Training Academy.
Requires a minimum of six (6) months of relevant experience.
