Eaton Research Labs (ERL) is currently seeking a Government Programs Business Development Manager to join our team. This position can sit at our Menomonee Falls WI, Plymouth MN or Beachwood OH office. Relocation assistance will be provided if needed.

Position Overview:

The ERL is a corporate R&D function within Eaton's Chief Technology Office, responsible for innovative and breakthrough technology development and commercialization for Eaton products and service solutions.

This position is responsible for creating and securing government funded R&D programs with Eaton Research Laboratory teams. The incumbent will work to facilitate collaboration between Eaton technology teams, funding agencies and technology partners.

In this role you will:

  • Identify and gain R&D funding sources based upon Eaton’s technology strategies, create government funding ideas, including draft concepts and identifying key partners.
  • Create and submit together, with Eaton technology stakeholders, winning proposals for government funding. This includes managing the external proposal process as well as the internal Eaton bid process (organizing legal reviews with Eaton contracting and compliance team, preparing bid documentation, briefing senior leaders).
  • Develop a deep network within Eaton technology and business teams to understand technology roadmaps and identify key program priorities.
  • Create strategic partnerships with Defense and Energy funding agencies. Influence upcoming funding opportunities to advance Eaton technologies.
  • Maintain an up to date understanding of policy developments that might impact division’s R&D strategies.
  • Develop broad network of external stakeholders amongst National Laboratories, universities, research organizations and partner companies to create an ecosystem supporting Eaton’s interests and opportunities to secure external funding

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering or business systems.
  • This position requires us of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. “Green Card Holder”), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Business or Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Experience with government funding preferred
  • Experience with electric aircraft/vehicle, power electronics, electrical grids, electric vehicle charging, materials, data science and manufacturing
