THE POSITION

The Department of Revenue is seeking enthusiastic and hard-working individuals with excellent communication and customer service skills and who thrive on working in a fast paced detail oriented environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Tax Examiner 1, you will develop the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to review and examine tax data, schedules and associated documents; read and interpret correspondence; and the interpretation and explanation of Pennsylvania's tax laws, rules, regulations and procedures to taxpayers, accountants and their representatives.

Candidates will be answering telephones and assisting callers; must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing; operate telephone and computer systems; operate general office equipment; and perform intermediate arithmetic calculations. Candidates need to have a good work ethic and organizational skills, and have the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Preferred experience includes work experience answering telephone calls and assisting callers and customer service experience.

Work hours are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm or 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

You will be expected to work from home (telework) full-time. You must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Strawberry Square, Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Two (2) years of general office work; OR An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Preferred Qualifications (preferred but not required).
Telephone experience - answering calls and assisting callers
Customer service experience
Experience using a PC
