Position is located with PINECREST SUPPORTS & SERVICES CENTER.
Location: Residential Services - Compass
Shift: 7:30am – 8:00pm Pass Days: Day A

This position may be filled by Detail to Special Duty. Only qualifying permanent status employees within LDH-OCDD (Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities) will be considered for Detail to Special Duty to Special Duty. Preference may be given to permanent classified employees of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center. (PSSC).

No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.

This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $1560.40 Bi Weekly

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Four years of experience in providing care, guidance or training to individuals with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities or chemical dependency; or psychiatric patient care.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
College training with a least six semester hours per year in one or a combination of education, psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, child guidance or nursing will substitute for the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience.
Training as Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant at a recognized technical school will substitute on a month for month basis for a maximum of six months of the required experience.
NOTE:
Applicants may be required to satisfactorily complete a course of medication administration.
Completion of an in-service training program administered by the department may be required.

Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Commission of Higher Education; the Higher Learning Commission; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Job Concepts

Function of Work:
To supervise the non-professional support work involving direct care of individuals implementing and directing active treatment plans by providing care, guidance and training for multiple homes or one home on a 24-hour basis Additionally, may serve as an assistant to the OCDD Active Treatment Program Home Manager.

Level of Work:
Supervisor.

Supervision Received:
General from an OCDD Active Treatment Program Home Manager, Residential Services Specialist 7, or a higher-level professional staff member.

Supervision Exercised:
Direct over Residential Services Specialists 5.

Location of Work:
Department of Health and Hospitals, Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities, residential care facilities or community homes for individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities; schools and hospitals.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from Residential Services Specialist 5 by the presence of direct-line supervisory responsibility over Residential Services Specialists 5, and either second-line supervisory responsibility over multiple homes or one home on a 24-hour basis. Additionally, may serve as assistant to the OCDD Active Treatment Program Home Manager.

Differs from the Residential Services Specialist 7 by the absence of responsibility of assisting in directing, programmatically and administratively, in an individual safety, care and training program of more than 50 individuals.

Examples of Work

Supervises a group of subordinates, including a Residential Services Specialist 5, in multiple homes or one home on a 24-hour basis, ensuring active treatment plans for clients are carried out in a home-like atmosphere.

Directs subordinates in training and guidance of individuals in routine and simple self-help skills such as good hygiene, eating and dressing, good housekeeping, and other activities providing personal and social growth.

Assists in interviewing, selecting and training personnel, scheduling work, evaluation performance and resolving technical problems.

Participates in the development and implementation of the individuals' active treatment plans as needed.

Assists OCDD Active Treatment Program Home Manager, Residential Services Specialist 7, or Residential Services Specialist 8 in daily operations and may perform their duties during their absences.

Observes living quarters for cleanliness and checks individuals to assure proper care.

Reviews and reports progress of individuals in specific training programs.

Recommends to professional staff specific training needs of individuals.

Interprets directives and policies of higher authority to subordinates.

Ensures individual records are maintained with current and precise documentation in accordance with all applicable regulations, standards and guidelines.

Observes behavior of individuals and reports sudden or unusual changes to appropriate professional/medical staff.

Organizes training schedules for individuals in accordance with their needs as prioritized in the treatment plan.

Prepares and/or reviews reports and records relative to individual care and progress.

Supervises subordinates in maintaining an appropriate environmental setting for individuals.

Investigates and/or assists in investigating cases of accidents and alleged cases of abuse or neglect of residents and promptly reports to appropriate personnel.

Requisitions needed supplies, equipment and repairs in living areas.

May coordinate and/or conduct in-service training for subordinates.
