Temporary Position

Hiring Range: $2738.00 to $4200.00 per month

Summary of Work


This position will assist clients (parents and children) in developing skills to meet their own needs and complete requirements of their case plan.

  • Serve as an advocate for family empowerment and self-reliance.
  • Provide emotional support and assist with developing self-esteem and self-confidence.
  • Teach and model coping, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Provide education and guidance to parents in relation to household tasks, meal planning, budgeting, personal hygiene, time organization, communication and assessing community resources.
  • Assist parents/families in becoming involved in activities designed to reduce isolation and establish support systems.
  • Assist parents/families with transportation to access resources or attend appointments that will help reduce the risk of future maltreatment or help them become self-reliant.
  • Perform required documentation and record keeping relating to assigned cases, including input into FRAME – child welfare data system.
  • Provide transportation as service plans require and participate as a member for the family team. This position will also assist with coordinating the North Dakota Health Tracks Program, communicating with AASK, Foster care Recruitment and Retention, provide support to administrative assistants and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications


Requires a high school diploma or GED and two (2) years of work experience with special population groups such as the mentally ill, developmentally disabled, children and adolescents, and patients/clients in a direct care facility such as a hospital, nursing home, group home, day care, or in a community/mental health setting. This position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to use own vehicle. Two years of college coursework may substitute for the work experience requirement.

Preference will be given to applicants with computer experience, good verbal communication skills, and an understanding of human relations.

If we cannot find a fully qualified Direct Care Associate III, we will underwill as a Direct Care Associate II which requires a high school diploma or GED and one (1) year of work experience providing direct care to special populations. Agency may designate education, training, or medical certification to substitute for the work experience requirement.


Individuals may be required to work non-traditional work hours. The ability to provide transportation for clients using the employee’s own transportation is required for this position. A criminal background check and a driver’s record check will be performed prior to employment. This position requires proof of adequate vehicle insurance.
