Coborn’s, Inc. is looking for an enthusiastic and confident Human Resource Generalist who is passionate about people! As a Human Resource Generalist, you will be responsible partnering with your assigned store and department leaders to provide human resource expertise on all aspects of talent acquisition and human resources. This is an in-store HR position providing direct support to our retail location in Watford City, North Dakota.
A day in the life of the Human Resource Generalist may include any combination of the below duties (and more!):
Champions a positive guest culture with a “Say Yes to the Guest” approach, where each of our internal and external guests are treated as our most important guest.Proactively builds the candidate talent pool by seeking out and building relationships with top talent for current and future job openings. Includes direct calls, networking, posting and engaging on social media, sourcing candidates from various groups, hosts in-store job fairs, attends external job fairs, etc. Is a key player in bringing on the right talent in the right jobs.
Provides Human Resources advice, support, consultation and guidance, including application of HR policies and processes, with leaders and employees. Navigates and recommends resolutions on employee issues; leads employee relations initiatives and investigations to ensure a positive and fair work environment, while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.
Continually partners with leadership to build positive employee outcomes by establishing and maintaining connections with leaders. Helps shape a remarkable work environment by staying abreast of current trends and anticipating impending employee concerns or needs. Participates in employee recognition initiatives and events.
Conducts an engaging new hire orientation that mirrors our dynamic company culture.
Maintains timekeeping records and submits to corporate payroll according to deadlines.
Facilitates development training programs to increase the knowledge, skills and abilities of all employees and leadership. Assists with succession planning to further develop high potential employees.
Assures and maintains general compliance with state and federal regulations for all human resources practices while also maintaining and tracking various reports and HR metrics.
Responds to government requests for unemployment information and hearings.
The ideal candidate for this position:
is a high-energy, enthusiastic, and confident human resource “rock star” with excellent communication and relationship building skills;
has proven experience in human resources;
possesses a detailed knowledge of human resource best practices;
is able to work with internal employees and external candidates as well as with all levels of leadership;
is self-motivated and possesses excellent organization, planning, and time management skills, and is able to multi-task across multiple projects with varying deadlines; and
has a working knowledge of all employment laws, including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Affirmative Action, Americans with Disabilities Act, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, and Harassment (preferred).
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field is preferred. One to three years of experience as a human resource generalist is preferred. Must be able to travel locally (day trips) between stores and work outside of normal business hours as needed.
