If so, then you may be interested in the Field Compliance Specialist position in the Employment Relations Division.

The physical office can be located in Butte or Helena; however, this position travels extensively and often works remotely covering nine counties in South Central Montana. Majority of the work is completed within the Bozeman/ Big Sky area. Will consider candidates who live within 30 miles of Bozeman, Butte or Helena.

As a Field Compliance Specialist you will:

  • Investigate complaints and suspected violations.
  • Review industry-specific rules, regulations and statutes to determine nature of violations or discrepancies and the type of action to be taken.
  • Advise individuals and groups concerning regulations, inspection, and investigation findings; encourage voluntary action to correct problems.
  • Determine liability or penalty for violations.
  • Prepare reports, submissions or recommendations about findings
  • Follows up with managers or entities regarding corrections and recommended actions addressing violations
  • Confer with officials and technical or professional specialists.
  • Interpret governmental regulations for individuals and employers.
  • Review contracts to determine an entity’s actions required to meet governmental provisions.
Qualifications:


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have the following knowledge, skills or abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Major Montana industries.
  • Statutes, rules, policies governing independent contractor, construction contractor, worker's compensation, wage and hour, prevailing wage, uninsured employers, and employment entity disputes.

Skills in:

  • Persuading others to comply voluntarily with requirements and effectively resolve conflicts with courtesy and respect.
  • Working independently with minimal supervision through planning, organizing and prioritizing work.

Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively, maintain working relationships, and gather information with cooperation from people with diverse backgrounds and levels of understanding.
  • Operate a personal computer and general office equipment as necessary to complete the essential functions, including using spreadsheets, word processing, data entry, email, internet and other computer programs.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

Extensive in-state travel (75%) is required. This position requires the ability to drive long distances in inclement weather within an assigned geographic area. The incumbent will interact with a variety of individuals in a professional manner and traverse construction sites in a safe manner while wearing proper safety equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant bachelor's degree in communications, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year of directly related qualifying experience.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Preference:

Prior experience working with Workers' Compensation.
