This position is a Pay Band 55
Purpose of Position
Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.
Why does the job exist?
This position will build a knowledge base and awareness of federal and state health care laws and regulations, New Mexico Retiree Health Care Authority rules and regulations, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Health Insurance Portable and Accountability Act, and other applicable health care guidelines to ensure requirements are being met.
How does it get done?
This position will provide quality customer service by telephone, email and person-to-person with agency participants and health partners; determine enrollment eligibility and provide education on health and medical plan insurance offerings; process enrollment applications and changes; resolve enrollment and claim problems; request refunds when overpayments are made; process account adjustments as needed and distribute materials to program participants.

Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalent and two (2) years experience in customer service, office administration, government assistance programs such as welfare, unemployment benefits, social security benefits and/or public housing. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.
For utilization at the Department of Veterans Services only:
Two (2) years of active duty service in the Armed Forces will substitute for the required experience listed above. Hiring preference will be given to Veterans of the Armed Forces.

- Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.
- If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Executive Order 2021-057 requires all employees with the State of New Mexico to provide either proof of COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a COVID-19 viral test every week.
The Public Health Order (on Vaccination) dated August 17, 2021, requires Congregate Care Facility Workers and Hospital Workers to be fully vaccinated.

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive phone and personal computer usage. Direct client interaction and some travel may be required.
