The City of Surprise Community Development Department seeks a self-motivated, solutions-oriented Development Services Assistant to join its team in support of the Development Services division.
This division work collaboratively with other city departments, residents, and the development community to ensure that the City of Surprise grows safely and efficiently for the benefit of its residents and businesses. A successful candidate will be organized, able to effectively handle multiple priorities, a team player, and committed to providing excellent customer service.

SUMMARY
First point of contact to assist internal and external customers. Provides customer service pertaining to development and permitting processes and procedures. Responds to inquiries both on the telephone and at a public counter based on customers' needs. Coordinates construction-related requests. Provides extensive public contact requiring considerable tact and persuasion, particularly when dealing with often irate or distraught customers. Position is also responsible for having a wide variety of knowledge of the public sector in general.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED, and two years of experience in customer service or in a construction-related field. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
