Introduction

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism is seeking energetic and dynamic individuals to provide high-level customer service at the Chinn Aquatics and Fitness Center and the Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center. Our facilities are demanding, fast-paced, and multi-tasking environments. Interested candidates must be highly motivated and self-directed but able to work within a larger team structure. Various duties include directly engaging customers, providing clear and accurate information (that changes regularly) across all program departments in response to customer inquiries both in-person and over the phone, processing program registrations and transactions, handling cash, generating reports, and various other clerical duties as needed for daily center operations.

Please note: this is a part-time position and requires flexibility. The work schedule will vary to include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. Once again, flexibility is a must.

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism conducts criminal background and DMV checks on all new hires 18 years of age and older. Fingerprinting is required.

NATURE OF WORK
Incumbents perform routine office support or customer service functions following established and specified procedures. Responsibilities may include faxing and copying documents; performing data entry; reviewing calendars to schedule appointments; reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness; and answering phones and routing calls. Incumbents perform standardized work following prescribed procedures and instructions.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This position is dedicated to performing customer service and office support functions. Work is performed in accordance with set procedures and guidelines, and deviation from those guidelines require approval.

1. Responds to requests for information from the general public, staff, and/or other interested parties; answers routine questions; directs callers/visitors to appropriate locations or staff.
2. Prepares, reviews, and/or processes a variety of routine correspondence, logs, information, paperwork, invoices, forms, and/or other related information to ensure accuracy and completeness; keys information into applicable spreadsheets and/or databases.
3. Receives, sorts, and distributes a variety of correspondence, deliveries, and mail.
4. Files documents alphabetically, numerically, or by other prescribed methods in established filing systems; makes photocopies; and faxes documents.
5. Reviews calendars and schedules appointments and/or meetings.
6. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or G.E.D.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Positions in this class typically require reaching, standing, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
