The Special Taxes Division has a Calculations Assistant position open whose primary function is to examine International Fuel Tax (IFTA) returns and license applications for compliance to the tax statutes and the IFTA Agreement. Customer Service experience is necessary to communicate and assist taxpayers via telephone, e-mail, and correspondence. Excellent communication skills are needed to liaison with various internal Treasury divisions.
You would be joining approximately 90 employees in the Special Taxes Division, which is one of four divisions within the Tax Administration Services Bureau. The Tax Administration Services Bureau includes the following divisions:
Special Taxes
Individual Income Taxes
Business Taxes
City Taxes

Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Calculations Assistant 5
No specific type or amount is required.
Calculations Assistant 6
One year of administrative support experience.
Calculations Assistant E7
Two years of administrative support, including one year equivalent to a Calculations Assistant 6, involving examining, counting, and coding, performing basic mathematical calculations and proofreading numerical data.

Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.
This position has a FTINPRINT sub-class code. The sub-class code indicates the position has access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and requires passing of a fingerprint-based background check per IRS Publication 1075.
The Michigan Department of Treasury participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
