Clatsop County occupies the northwest corner of Oregon bounded to the north by the Columbia River and to the west by the Pacific Ocean. Named for the Clatsop Indians, Clatsop County is rich in history, scenery and opportunity.

Seeking one public relations professional to provide advanced public relations and information services in a complex public sector organization. Responsibilities include developing and implementing public relations, media relations, and marketing activities to achieve the communication objectives of the Clatsop County Board of Commissioners and the county manager’s office. Serves as point of contact for public records requests and primary liaison for emergency public information activities and may lead, coordinate, or supervise staff on department-specific communications and public relations efforts. Assists in strategic planning efforts across the organization and fosters a positive and supportive workplace that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion in a multicultural society.

Mandatory Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, communications, urban studies, political science, or a related field; AND five (5) or more years of increasingly responsible experience in local government or equivalent which includes two (2) years of staff supervision/management and two (2) years of performing a professional community engagement role. Requires excellent communication skills, ability to multi-task and work well with many diverse clientele and issues.

Desired Qualifications
Advanced degree in communications, marketing, or public relations.
