Description
Are you interested in being part of a team in the Finance and Administration Cabinet that is dedicated to delivering postal and messenger services to agencies within state government? If so, this is your opportunity to work for the Division of Postal Services! As an entry level postal technician, you will receive the guidance, direction and training needed to be successful and to assist in the Cabinet’s efforts to provide centralized support services to all agencies of state government. Our office is conveniently located in Frankfort with parking just steps from the building. We offer flexible scheduling, on the job training, and monthly vacation and sick leave.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to: Operating a state vehicle, delivering mail to multiple state agencies in Frankfort and minimal equipment maintenance.

As a Postal Technician I in the Division of Postal Services you will perform under general supervision, the processing of mail and packages within the Meter Section of Postal Services.

Additionally, you will be responsible for:
  • The operation of metering machines and the UPS mailing system.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained safely and efficiently notifying the supervisor when action to repair equipment is needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Must possess clear communication skills to work with staff and other agencies.
  • Knowledge of the EMS (Enhanced Mailing System) is helpful.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be available to work overtime as needed.
Additional Information: Must successfully complete a background investigation including FBI criminal history record (fingerprint check). Must successfully complete an Administrative Office of the Courts review.

EDUCATION: High school graduate.

Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title requires daily travel to pick up and deliver mail.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
