THIS POSITION IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO ACTIVE DMV EMPLOYEES OR STATE EMPLOYEES THAT HAVE BEEN LAID OFF AND POSSESS AN ACTIVE BLUE OR YELLOW CARD. This position is largely telework with occasional travel to Richmond or Altavista.

If your values align with ours, we invite you to apply for the Office Manager Senior position, reporting to the DMV Contact Center Manager. This position is responsible for the management of DMV Contact Center professionals and inbound calls and emails in a high-volume customer contact center environment. This position will seek to provide the highest quality service to our citizens and customers while meeting the business objectives for service quality, sales, and expense management.

The Department of Motor Vehicles is an Executive Level Branch agency. In accordance with Governor Ralph Northam’s mandate, by Article V, Sections 1 and 7 of the Constitution of Virginia, and by § 2.2-103 of the Code of Virginia, all Executive Branch employees and state contractors who enter the workplace or who have public-facing work duties must disclose their vaccine status to the designated agency personnel. Executive Branch Employees who are not fully vaccinated or choose not to disclose their current vaccine status must undergo weekly COVID-19 testing and disclose weekly the results of those tests to the designated agency personnel.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Considerable experience in a customer service focused position.
  • Some experience in difficult and involved clerical administrative office work which includes considerable supervisory responsibilities.
  • Some knowledge of organization management principles and practices for service operations.
  • Working knowledge of administrative principles and practices related to budgetary control, facilities management, contractual agreements, and/or human resources management.
  • Working knowledge of established accounting and inventory control principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of basic data collection and analysis techniques.
  • Working knowledge of computer information systems, databases, and personal computers, and how they support service operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and coordinate the operations of a service facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, explain, and apply complex statues such as the Motor Vehicle Code, and other laws, rules, regulations, polices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data to determine the impact on operating procedures, personnel and costs.
  • Demonstrated ability to draw logical conclusions and make recommendations for operational adjustments.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately manage and account for revenues, expenditures, and cash and non-cash secure assets.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise, train, counsel, and coach operational staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure during peak workload periods.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize personal computer, word document, and spreadsheet software to create business correspondence and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a courteous, professional, and tactful manner, both orally and in writing, with all levels of organizational personnel and a diverse customer population.
  • Must be willing to work Monday through Saturday with varying hours to meet agency business needs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the DMV Contact Center.
  • Degree supplemented by training or experience within business administration – training or equivalent work experience may meet this requirement.
