Position Description:
JOIN OUR TEAM to assist and prepare over 200,000 Servicemen and women who separate annually from the United States Military begin a new life chapter as a civilian. Many of those who separate from the military have transition plans while others find becoming a civilian a daunting task. The Department of Labor (DOL) Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) program requires contractor services to support these transitioning Servicemen and women through its highly successful Transition Assistance Program (TAP) that is offered world-wide to conduct job assistance workshops, employment counseling, apprenticeship program placements and employer outreach.

The Employment Resource Coordinator (ERC) supports veteran, National Guard, and Reserve Service members and their spouses’ civilian employment through education and support services. The ERC will support the Off-Base Transition Training (OBTT) program efforts by assisting with Memoranda of Agreements and coordination of Brick and Mortar (B/M) employment workshops at select locations other than active military installations.


In this role, you will:

  • May coordinate virtual workshops.
  • A high level of coordination in addition to excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Must be able to listen to OBTT participants and assist them in identifying and prioritizing their needs.
  • Provides screening and referral services and identify and utilize a network of local, regional, and state resources for employment and employment readiness.
  • Serve as the point of contact for activities in their assigned area of responsibility for all stakeholders, including those from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, Department of Defense, Department of Labor, State Adjutant General offices, American Job Centers, DOL VETS State Directors, and more.
  • Manages supplies, instructional materials, and office equipment and prepares periodic reports.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including weekdays, weekends, and some holidays, may be required to address emerging requirements under changing and constrained timelines.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, be comfortable instructing and speaking in front of a group, be observant of others, possess the ability to engage an audience, and respond to inquiries independently.
  • Possess excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently on client site and remotely.
  • Market their services using approved messages and materials within their assigned region to increase awareness of services and perform outreach to Veterans, National Guard and Reserve Members, and their Spouses. Reports to a Project Manager.
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Requires BA/BS degree or three (3) years of employment or career counseling experience, or at least five (5) years of experience assisting veterans, service members, and/or spouses in the workplace.
  • Security clearance required.
  • Knowledgeable of the workplace, occupations, and requirements for entry for occupations in the area of responsibility.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office.
  • Works well with veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, spouses, and interagency staff.
  • Experienced in negotiating with partners and outside organizations or agencies relating to veterans, National Guard and Reserve member, or their spouses.
  • Understanding of the military organizational structure, its occupational specialties and the correlation to the civilian workforce.
  • Able to communicate effectively (orally and in writing).
  • Able to facilitate meetings and provide briefings (in-person and virtually).
  • Able to prepare and deliver presentations to various size audiences.
