The Hawai‘i State Senate is accepting applications for Data Entry Clerks/Office Assistants during the 2022 legislative session. If you are interested in serving your community, learning more about the legislative process, and working in a dynamic environment, please consider joining our team.
This is a temporary, 4-6 month job with start dates in December 2021 or January 2022.
Applicants must be organized, demonstrate excellent computer skills, maintain meticulous attention to detail, work efficiently and accurately, and learn quickly. The primary responsibilities of the position center around supporting the intake and processing of legislative documents. Daily tasks include answering phone calls, data-entry, document intake, proofreading, formatting documents, and miscellaneous office support.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO WORK REQUIREMENT: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Applicants must be able to work extended hours on most legislative deadlines. Prior experience in a customer service-oriented office environment preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Bachelor’s degree desirable.
Effective September 1, 2021, all members and employees of the Senate are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
This position is exempt from the civil service and considered temporary in nature. Therefore, if you are appointed to the position, your employment will be considered to be "at will," which means that you may be discharged from your employment at the prerogative of your department head or designee at any time.
