Salary: $3,047 to $3,708 per month (SR-11, Step C to H)

Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Duties Summary

Performs extensive field work and out-reach functions; serves as liaison between professional staff and clients, and/or potential clients; performs preliminary screening for continued eligibility for social service programs.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Basic Education/Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent, or experience which demonstrated the ability to read, comprehend and apply written directions, a high degree of verbal skill and the ability to make basic mathematical computations, including averaging.

Specialized Experience: Three years of experience providing supportive services to professional workers in a social service or a health related agency e.g., performing clerical tasks in processing various documents, transporting clients and materials to and from various destinations, observing and reporting of client interactions, emotional, physical or mental symptoms and problems; explaining to clients or tenants the services available, assisting in overseeing group activities such as bowling and swimming. Experience must have involved engaging with clients.

Applicants for Social Service Assistant IV must possess at least one year of experience comparable to the Social Service Aid III in State government.
Social Service Aid III: Independently provides all supportive services for a unit or team; participates in team activities; does limited field work including checking with clients, encouraging them to use available resources, following up on cases on a periodic basis, relaying information, problems and observations to the professional staff.

Driver's License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. The immediate vacancy has this requirement.
