Role Overview:
The Quality Inspector Level I ensures that the quality of Collins suppliers, products, and processes are compliant with internal and regulatory standards and are continuously improving. Performs all assigned tasks based on demonstrated, certified skills and abilities necessary to inspect electromechanical components. Quality Inspectors Level I will use predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to inspect arriving, in-process and completed final products for conformance to engineering requirements. This position works under general supervision.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform In-process, Final, and Source Inspection of parts, assemblies and materials to ensure compliance to drawing, or customer directed specifications
Use of mechanical inspection tools and gages (Measurement and Test Equipment) as necessary, for specific inspection operations.
Uses and interprets the Material Resource Planning (MRP) system
Reports and creates non-conformance Quality Notifications using the Non-conforming Material Reporting system in SAP
Assists Quality Manager and Supervisor with Quality related tasks as directed
Inspects manufactured product and parts, control samples, processes, or test data for conformity to blueprints/authority dataset, specifications and standards.
Reports inspection results and substandard conditions on appropriate forms or computer
Inspects production machine and process setups when applicable using first production pieces, setup pieces, shift samples, etc. according to checklists, blueprints, routings and standards
Informs lead/supervision of abnormal situation
Ensures quality product utilizing Collins quality procedures
Adheres to all Collins/UTAS rules and codes of conduct
Looks for ways to eliminate safety hazards and improve the overall safety of the workplace
Provides continuous improvement ideas in order to support lean and ACE initiatives
May perform other job duties as required and available for overtime as necessary
Basic Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or GED is required
1-3 years of relevant manufacturing experience in quality assurance is required
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position.
Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
Aerospace manufacturing experience is preferred
ASQ or CQI Certification is preferred
