ABC Fingerprint Tech - Criminal Information Tech II

ABC section-
The main purpose of this position is to provide advanced level support in the Applicant Background Check and Fingerprinting sections of the Bureau of Criminal Identification. Duties may include data entry of background check requests, taking fingerprints, processing background check information, assisting both walk-in and telephone customers. To assist in criminal investigations through computerized research activities. Receive, process and respond to information requests from law enforcement agencies.

Principal duties

  • Searches, retrieves and/or researches public and private records in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
  • Performs initial background and history research on individual(s) being investigated.
  • Examines, classifies and compares fingerprints to perform criminal history checks and/or to identify suspects in criminal investigations.
  • Prepares ten-print fingerprint cards and fingerprint evidence for entry into Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), search fingerprint files manually, and compare and classify fingerprints.
Requirements
  • Special physical demands are required for this position, the applicant must be able to stand for long periods of time which may include walking to and from the door to let customers in and physically manipulating another persons hands in order to obtain the fingerprints. This close physical contact may increase your risk of exposure to COVID and other viruses.
  • Must pass the Utah Bureau of Identification Proficiency test with in probationary period and maintain certification thereafter
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check to be eligible to be hired into this position.
