Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector is looking for a Program Manager Level 1 to support the Aerospace Structures business unit at the Clearfield, UT Freeport Composites Facility. This position will report to the Program Manager, and serve as a deputy program manager for one of the various IPT’s. Program Managers lead all phases of the program life cycle from inception (proposal development) through startup, execution, and completion (contract closeout). Program managers are responsible for the execution and success of all aspects on the program (Technical, Quality, Cost and Schedule).

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and advise cross-functional Integrated Program Teams (IPT) to meet program cost, schedule, technical and quality requirements and objectives
  • Lead and establish a program organization that optimally addresses customer requirements and incorporates the vital internal and external sub-organizations
  • Deliver presentations to customers, executive management and other program partners, including performing PMR’s and execution reviews
  • Development and adherence to master plans and schedules, budget baselines, and utilizing cost & schedule control methodologies and tools
  • Lead all aspects of program resource planning, including workforce planning, capacity and facility needs
  • Work with functional leads to ensure the IPT and execution teams are able to meet program objectives
  • Hold team members accountable to perform their program responsibilities and empower team members to excel
  • Ensuring the program team understands and adheres to contract scope, and leads change through control board activities
  • Overseeing program performance, leading and advising corrective action needs where performance is not meeting program objectives
  • Identification, distribution, tracking, and completion of program requirements
  • Creation, review and finalization of the program plan and or statement of work
  • Cultivating customer relationships and intimacy to develop potential for future opportunities within the customer community
  • Overseeing contract negotiations, contract changes, specification updates, and key terms and conditions
  • Establishment and management of the program and subordinate baselines
  • Adherence to all internal processes, policies, and applicable industry standards
  • Conducting detailed risk & opportunity management practices including identification, mitigation and realization
  • Developing new business opportunities through long term strategic planning, capture planning, and development of proposals and business plans

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years' experience, or Masters Degree and 5 years’ experience, supporting U.S. Government or Commercial Aerospace contracts and customers, project or chief engineering, and/or project management, in other industries
  • Proven experience leading teams and/or organizations to achieve a common goal
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance and special program access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret DoD Clearance
  • Strong leadership, business acumen and a history of problem resolution
  • Knowledge of composite structures and Aerospace Industry program lifecycle
  • Program/Engineering/Business/Integrated Product Team management experience within the Aerospace and Defense industry
  • Experience utilizing lean concepts and principles to meet program goals and objectives

Salary Range: $101,200.00 - $151,800.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay . Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
