New job Electric Distribution Associate Designer, Designer, or Senior Designer in Minnesota

Entry level design position that provides new and existing commercial, industrial, residential, and internal customers with distribution design project management for the least complex areas of design. The responsibility of this position is to function as the primary contact for future and existing customers by providing cost effective designs that balance customers’ needs in accordance with Company Delivery Services standards and administrative guidelines. Provide work clarification for construction personnel and act as the liaison between the construction department and customers. This position has a direct impact on safety, system operation, financial results, reliability, and customer satisfaction. May be expected to assist as needed after normal business hours during emergency situations.
The person hired for this role will perform electric distribution design functions. The successful candidate will be placed within our Designer hierarchy commensurate with skills and experience.

Essential Responsibilities

• Design facilities for new and existing customers according to Company Delivery Services construction standards and interpret administrative instructions for consistent and cost effective designs. Provide distribution design project management for the least complex areas of design. Responsible for the generation of additional company revenue through contacts with new business or existing customers.
• Manage projects from initial customer contact through post project analysis. Establish and manage the construction work plan with construction forces in order to meet the customers’ schedule and design requirements as well as financial and budgetary requirements.
• Obtain permits and easements for facilities in accordance with city ordinances, state, federal, and county agencies as required. Execute contracts and agreements in compliance with administrative instructions and regulatory requirements.
• Promote a safe work environment and design a safe operating system while providing premier customer service. Support and promote Company safety programs, including monitoring public safety around Company Delivery facilities.
• Represent the Company with government officials, contractors, city agencies, vendors, architects, and engineers to provide service to customers.

Minimum Requirements for Associate Designer

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two year technical degree and two years experience in design, construction, project management, or related field experience; or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
• Working knowledge of GIS, FastApp, Salesforce, SAP, MS Office and related systems.
• Knowledge of construction standards, materials, and technical codes.
• Highly effective communication and innovative problem solving skills.
• Self starter, able to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to successfully complete established Skill-Based Training Program.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and provide own vehicle.
• May be drug tested randomly as prescribed by the Department of Transportation.

Minimum Requirements for Designer

• Two year technical degree and five years experience in distribution design, construction, project management, or related field experience; or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge
• Working knowledge of GIS, Salesforce, FastApp, SAP, MS Office and related systems
• Knowledge of construction standards, materials, and technical codes
• Highly effective communication and innovative problem solving skills
• Self starter, able to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to successfully complete established Skill-Based Training Program
• Must have a valid driver’s license and provide own vehicle
• May be drug tested randomly as prescribed by the Department of Transportation

Minimum Requirements for Senior Designer

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two year technical degree or a combination of education and distribution design, construction or related field experience providing equivalent knowledge desired.
• Experience: A minimum of ten years experience in distribution design or related field experience providing equivalent knowledge required.
• Working knowledge of GIS, Salesforce, FastApp, SAP, and MS Office and related systems desirable.
• Knowledge of construction standards, materials, and technical codes.
• Special Requirements: Frequent travel and overnight stays maybe required throughout the Company.
• Candidate must successfully complete established Skill-Based Training Program, and have a valid driver’s license.
• May be drug tested randomly as prescribed by the Department of Transportation.
• May be placed on site team duty rotation and subject to after-hours call out.

The successful candidate will be placed at a level that is commensurate with the candidate's skills and experience.

Associate Desinger Pay Range is $22.00 to $30.73 per hour. Designer Pay Range is $23.60 to $33.70 per hour. Senior Designer Pay Range is $27.20 to $38.50 per hour
