The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation is seeking a Visitor Assistant who will deliver welcoming, knowledgeable, excellent customer service to create a memorable visitor experience. Foster engagement by staying informed of daily activities relating to the iconic Frank Lloyd Wright building, permanent collections, and special exhibitions. Proactively adapt to change, be it changes within the museum or the changing needs of our audience. Encourage initial and repeat visitation while supporting continued engagement.

Key Responsibilities::
Operations::
    • Sell and redeem museum admissions using mobile technology or over the phone if necessary.
    • Assist visitors in finding the correct queue when necessary for timed entry admissions/events. Verify if tickets have been or need to be purchased.
    • Welcome visitors and inform them of museum policies, daily museum programming/activities, provide wayfinding instructions and encourage engagement through downloadable materials.
    • Promote and sell museum memberships of various categories using knowledge of member incentives/benefits, openings, and special programs.
    • Promote purchase of CityPASS when applicable.
    • Assist with set up of outdoor signage, ticketing and queuing areas, prior to museum opening.
    • Set up rotunda floor with daily signage and brochures prior to museum opening. Maintain Visitor Experience specific areas throughout the day to ensure all informational materials are readily available. Clear all areas for evening public/private events when applicable.
    • Verify cash drawer at the beginning of each shift, count out at the end of each shift and maintain an accurate cash drawer throughout the day. Support Supervisor with research into overages and shortages.
    • Assist Box Office and Education with ticketing for afterhours public programming.
    • Assist Visitor Experience Coordinator answering/returning calls made to the museum's visitor information line.
    • Attend and participate in departmental trainings and exhibition tours.
    • Complete mandatory readings of educational, digital and press materials.
    • Other duties as assigned by Visitor Experience supervisors or managers.

Customer Service::
    • Keep Supervisor informed of any visitor feedback, positive or negative.
    • When dealing with negative feedback, provide an empathetic response and maintain professionalism.
    • Provide support to Visitor Experience Volunteers when necessary.



Qualifications and Requirements: :
    • Ticket sales, redeeming and general service posts require standing for a majority of shift, while moving between outdoor ticketing posts and queues.
    • All ticketing and queuing will take place outside. It may be necessary for Visitor Assistants to be outside for more than half of their shift.
    • Follow all museum guidelines regarding PPE usage when on the premises.
    • Saturdays and Sundays are required as well as some Holidays
    • BA preferred
    • Prior retail and/or customer service experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of or passion for art.
    • Foreign language is a plus.
