Summary

This position supports the Rocky Mountain Research Station, Science Programs in Ogden, UT.

This employee provides technical and procedural advice on a wide variety of administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a variety of paper and electronic administrative records for an organization or business.
  • Process purchase requisitions ensuring that funds are available, accounts are correct, and proper documentation is included.
  • Schedule conferences and meetings, including arranging logistics, preparing agendas, and notifying participants.
  • Manage and maintain tracking logs, action items, administrative suspense items, and transaction records.
  • Coordinate the processing of manuscripts and reports for public information, including maintaining approval records.
  • Prepare responses to inquiries on routine administrative matters.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - Occasional travel 1-3 times per year to other Forest Service offices or field locations and attend other professional meetings.

    Qualifications

    Specialized Experience Requirement:
    For the GS-05 grade level: You must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service. To qualify at this grade level, specialized experience includes all of the following:
    - Providing administrative support (such as budget, travel, human resources related tasks, records maintenance, correspondence, reports, or procurement) for an organization or business;
    - Maintaining electronic and hard copy records;
    • -Providing administrative information to a variety of customers; and
    - Using standard and web-based automated software and tools.

    OR

    Successful completion of a bachelor's degree or 4 years of successfully completed education above high school.

    OR

    A combination of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and specialized experience described above. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
