New job PLANNER I in Montana

The Planner I will perform a variety of duties including responsibility for assistance with current, long range and transportation planning activities, including subdivision review and processing, building plan review, zoning permit, zone change, special review, and variance review and processing. The successful applicant will participate as a member of special staff working groups on current planning, long range planning, and transportation planning projects and will also meet with community and civic groups and will make presentations to governing boards.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. These hours may vary based on operational needs.

Compensation: $26.91 - $31.14, Salary at hiring will be dependent upon the applicant’s education and experience (the salary range shown reflects steps 1 and 4 of a 7-step pay scale). Employees advance to the next step on their anniversary. Step increases are awarded annually until the highest step is achieved, additional longevity pay is earned based on years of service and COLA increases are negotiated each July. Exceptional benefits are provided including health/life insurance, retirement plan with generous employer contributions, sick leave, 10 paid holidays per year, 3 personal days per year and 3 weeks’ vacation leave per year. Vacation accruals begin immediately, increase with longevity and are available to use after your first 6 months on the job.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

• Four (4) year degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in geography, urban/rural planning, or a related field
• One (1) year of related work experience in government or private sector planning

OR

• Four (4) years’ experience in government or private sector planning
