The Luke Center for Public Service embraces community service, service learning and social entrepreneurship for grades K – 12, contributing to the school's public service and sustainability initiatives. Luke Center for Public Service is committed to communicating about service, creating meaningful service opportunities, and convening service-related conversations for students and teachers.

Punahou School is seeking a Faculty Member to join the The Luke Center for Public Service. The Faculty Member will provide creative guidance to Punahou’s commitment to Public Service which encourages and supports students in service commitments and projects. They will support the Director in implementing the Luke Center for Public Service’s new vision and mission as a space for exploring and inspiring innovation in thinking and action. This position weighs heavily on teaching and curriculum development that aligns with our historic values in public service and moral responsibility and continued support in enhancing student development in social responsibility, developing interdependence and a sense of community.


Position Details:
Department: Luke Center for Public Service
Status: Full Time Regular
FLSA Status: Exempt
Work Year: 2021-2022 School Year
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Occasional after hours and weekends, Schedule may vary based on operational needs


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years of experience teaching in a K-12 school setting with managing a complex and high-impact curricular experience.
  • Understanding cognitive development of K-12 students preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in public and community research.
  • Knowledge of the social movement landscape across sectors (business, government, NGO, philanthropy) in Hawai'i, nationally and globally.
  • Knowledge and an understanding of and sensitivity to our local socio-economic and political landscape.
  • Demonstrates experience in curriculum building for a wide age group.
  • Proficient with using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Webex. Working knowledge with other school used programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and passion for work with a broad range of students.
