Examples of Work

Provide Direct Supervision for staff of 7 instructors and one support staff to include review duties and responsibilities of staff to ensure equitable workload; review performance of employees, develop improved performance plans as necessary; interview and hire staff; Conduct job task analysis, present recommendation for training requirements and implement state curriculum. Create, deliver, and evaluate Basic law enforcement certification training; Coordinates, develops, delivers, assists and evaluates state mandated courses (Supervision, Management, Sheriff’s continuing education, Reciprocity and Reactivation). Provide technical expertise in training to law enforcement agencies, officers, and other professional organizations. Conduct annual inspections of all state law enforcement certification academies. Conduct and assign (other staff) law enforcement certification revocation investigations. Act on behalf of director in his/her absence. Other duties as assigned.

Hours: 7am - 4pm, Monday - Friday

Salary range $24.265 - $34.664. Salary commensurate with education and experience, if approved.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in criminal justice or a related field with sufficient experience in curriculum development and/or training development; business administration, planning, budgeting, and management of personnel and contract bidding.

PREFERRED: Bachelor's Degree; and Minimum of 5 year's commissioned law enforcement experience; minimum 5 years' experience conducting law enforcement training; minimum 3 years' experience developing training for delivery; knowledge and experience in instructional design methodologies; completion of management and or leadership training.

OTHER: Valid driver's license; Regular and reliable attendance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate written and orally with all levels of law enforcement, citizens and state government positions. Must have proven leadership skills. Ability to efficiently handle simultaneous assignments.
