Our work depends on an Associate Analyst joining our team to support the Defense Health Agency Pharmacy Analytics as a member of the Pharmacy Operations Support Contract Data Management Team. This team supports all parties associated with dispensing outpatient prescriptions to DoD beneficiaries. We deliver information, analytic products and tools to the Pharmacy Operations Division, military pharmacies, a contracted PBM, and the pharmaceutical industry in support of health care delivery, clinical studies, and pharmacy program management, including policy development and metrics and performance management.

This position is 100% remote working, however it is preferred that candidates are local to the San Antonio, TX area in order to attend onsite meetings at the location, as needed.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Routine check-ins with team leadership to review and prioritize daily data requests and analysis
  • Compile reports and perform analysis related to pharmacy data and users (e.g. utilization, demographic, patient level, provider level, claim level, pricing, retail refunds, etc.)
  • Use various databases (MHS Data Repository, M2, pharmacy contractor databases) and analysis tools (e.g. Business Objects, SAS EG, Tableau, MS Access, MS Excel, internally developed products) to collect data and present information.
  • Respond to report requests for information per www.health.mil/POD.
  • Contribute to the testing, validation, and documentation of all existing and new data elements in the pharmacy data warehouse. Identify and assist in resolving data issues with contractors whose data feed the warehouse.
  • Provide end user support for data delivery tools and products as available in SAS, Business Objects, Access, Tableau, etc.
  • Support analyses related to management controls and oversight (e.g. Fraud Waste and Abuse (FWA), Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP)).
  • Handle all data and deliveries with sensitivity to guidelines and requirements for working with PHI and PII.
  • Support team collaborative processes. Participate in team meetings for development, collaboration, and assignments, recording minutes as required. Contribute to development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures. Contribute to documentation of information/products provided to outside entities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience.
  • 1+ year of experience in data analysis
  • Able to understand and develop performance metrics (e.g. graphs, charts, percentages, goals, etc.) and to communicate the results to others
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to translate analytic questions into data requests and data into actionable information
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • US Citizenship required
  • Able to obtain IT-2 Position of Trust

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • SAS certification(s)
  • Experience in SAS or BSC objects reporting tool
  • Experience working with pharmacy data
  • Experience with MDR and M2
  • Experience with MS Access and visualization software such as Tableau
  • Familiarity with the handling of PHI, PII and other sensitive information
  • Experience with health care analysis with attention to delivery, payment, and eligibility

The likely salary range for this position is $39,666 - $59,500, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
