Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication (ALEC) within the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) is seeking an Agricultural Education Lecturer located at the Haskell Agricultural Lab. This position addresses the strong statewide demand focused on providing teacher preparation and development in an area of Nebraska not currently being served. This position will also enhance linkages with Nebraska’s P-16 education partners, develop and coordinate STEM learning experiences for education and career pathways and compacts in partnership with Nebraska schools and institutions of higher education, recruit future agricultural education teachers and students interested in food, energy, water and societal systems (FEWSS), and provide professional development for in-service and pre-service teachers.

The lecturer will contribute to the integrated teaching land-grant mission of ALEC and the IANR, as an effective scholar and citizen, including supporting student recruitment and IANR science literacy.
Other duties will include:
  • Partner with local school based agricultural education programs and teachers in supporting enhanced educational opportunities and experiences for students in agriculture and STEM related programs.
  • Collaborate with Nebraska schools and teachers providing comprehensive agricultural education programs to assist in coordination, development, and distribution of educational materials.
  • Coordinate and contribute directly to the development of innovative and transformative agricultural and STEM learning experiences.
  • Conduct onsite supervision visits to schools/programs with beginning and early career teachers, teachers pursuing alternative certification/licensure, and student teachers.
  • Develop associated curricular materials, products, and artifacts to support agricultural and STEM learning experiences.
  • Provide on-going professional development to formal and informal educators.
  • Provide academic and career mentoring to students in high school, 2-year institutions, and state and private universities who are interested in agricultural and STEM career pathways.
  • Serve as the liaison between Nebraska Schools and CASNR/IANR/UNL; develop and maintain relationships and collaborate with community leaders, post-secondary institutions, ESU’s, businesses, organizations and other internal and external partners to advance our shared goals.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Agricultural Education, Leadership Education, Curriculum and Instruction or closely related field.
  • Three years of agricultural education teaching experience.
  • Experience in curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated capacity for project management, program planning, evaluation and supervision.
  • Evidence of ability to build partnerships and effectively work as a team member.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Agricultural Education, Leadership Studies, Curriculum and Instruction or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and/or coordinating teacher professional development.
  • Evidence of effectively working with educational stakeholders at a regional, state or national level.
  • Experience in educational and career counseling/advising.
