Responsibilities

If selected for this position, you will serve as an Administrative Services Assistant (Office Automation) for the United States Attorney's Office, Middle District of Alabama. Typical work assignments will include:

  • Composing correspondence such as letters, endorsements, memoranda and electronic correspondence from records or files maintained.
  • Composing additional correspondence from brief oral or written notes;
  • Preparing a variety of recurring and special reports, compiling data and obtaining required information;
  • Performing limited or routine technical support duties in human resources;
  • Providing technical assistance and processing support to budget analysts;
  • Maintaining contracts for routine services and monitor the status of purchase orders;
  • Assisting in issuing visitor badges and verifying contractor security clearances;
  • Receptionists Duties; and
  • Providing office automation support using various software programs to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve and print a variety of documents.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

    Qualifications

    GS-06: To be qualified at the GS-6 level, you must have at least ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service.

    Specialized experience is defined as: experience performing limited or routine technical support duties, providing human resources support in one or more program areas; receiving incoming request for new classifications actions; determining personnel request and nature of actions; assisting employees and supervisors in completing routine paperwork associates with employee benefits; and processing support to area of financial management and procurement.

    GS-07: To be qualified at the GS-7 level, you must have at least ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level in the Federal service.

    Specialized experience is defined as: experience performing routine technical support duties, providing human resources support in two or more program areas; receiving incoming request for new classifications actions; determining personnel request and nature of actions; assisting employees and supervisors in completing routine paperwork associates with employee benefits; processing support to area of financial management and procurement, prepare, review, and reconcile financial and procurement records and reports.

    To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.)

    Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
