A secular and non-sectarian nonprofit, Tanenbaum raises awareness, builds knowledge, and implements strategies to promote long-term tangible change and more respectful and inclusive behaviors in institutions and organizations globally.

THE PROGRAM

Tanenbaum pioneered the work in religious diversity in the workplace. We consult directly with national and international corporations, government agencies, institutions of higher learning and leading not-for-profits on issues such as religious bias and accommodation, and train employees at all levels to develop respectful communication around religion in an increasingly diverse workforce. We provide workshops, webinars, panel discussions, policy reviews and consultations for our client companies, in addition to conducting national surveys and other research and resources on religion in the workplace.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Program Associate will work closely with the Workplace Program Senior Associates and Program Associate and report to the Manager of Programs. The Program Associate will occasionally work with the CEO.

The Program Associate will also liaise with other programs and departments as necessary. This includes collaborating with the Health Care Program on relevant consulting and membership matters.

The Program Associate will be primarily responsible for developing and leading initiatives to broaden the reach and impact of the program’s products and services (Corporate Membership, presentations, workshops, online resources, etc.). This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Expanding the Workplace program by identifying, supporting, and spearheading opportunities for new initiatives.
  • In consultation with the Manager of Programs and Senior Program Associates, managing the Corporate Membership program (onboarding new members, developing and supporting long-term religious DEI strategies, engaging in continual support, responding to queries, and developing and delivering trainings.)
  • Securing new Corporate Members at all levels and ensuring the renewal of existing Corporate Members.
  • Securing corporate sponsorship for Tanenbaum initiatives and events including but not limited to the Religious Diversity Leadership Summits and Peace Made Possible Gala.
  • Assuming the lead on at least one of the Workplace Program’s annual events (Religious Diversity Leadership Summit: NY, Religious Diversity Leadership Summit: London, Religious Diversity Symposium).
  • Conducting workshops, presentations, webinars and other programmatic speaking engagements.
  • Managing relationships with strategic partners (nonprofits, universities, D&I practitioners, Workplace Advisory Council) and developing new relationships to help the program complete its work more effectively.
  • Conducting ongoing research related to relevant laws, religious discrimination in the workplace, diversity and inclusion trends, organizational and professional development, etc., and ensuring that Tanenbaum’s training programs and resources are effective, up-to-date and cutting edge.
  • Supporting the program’s Monitoring & Evaluation initiative by tracking key indicators and reporting annually on findings.
  • Supporting Communications with updating and maintenance of Workplace resources; researching, drafting and finalizing materials for print and online publication.
  • Administrative tasks as required.
  • Occasional travel required once business travel resumes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Commitment to the mission and goals of Tanenbaum.
  • Graduate degree in religion, law, organizational development, international affairs, liberal arts or other related field a plus
  • At least 2 years’ experience in public speaking, training and/or facilitation.
  • Exceptional research, analysis and written, oral and presentation communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to interfaith issues.
  • Demonstrated understanding of religious identity and intersectional issues.
  • Previous experience planning and executing professional events and conferences a plus.
  • Previous client-facing and/or sales experience.
  • Ability and willingness to adapt and support the Workplace Program as technical needs (i.e. e-learning and web-based tools) evolve.
  • Experience in creating and managing budgets.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation skills a plus.
  • Corporate experience a plus.
  • Highly organized and adept at project management.
  • Background in law, diversity and inclusion, intercultural communications, or human resources a plus.
  • Solution-oriented.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Experience with distance or online learning helpful.
  • Takes initiative.
  • Team player.
  • Represent Tanenbaum and the program in a professional manner at all times.
  • Enjoy working with people and possess strong communication and motivation skills.
  • Expertise in computers including internet research, Windows, MS Word and Excel.
