Job Summary:
All financial reporting for the enterprise is completed under the direction of this position, including the creation of board reports for the VP of Finance. This position also conducts the annual budget process for the enterprise, ensuring that revenue and expense items are thoroughly analyzed across all divisions. The incumbent functions as a key player, along with the IT department in the identification of systems applications for continual improvement of financial reporting and productivity. Additionally, this position manages the inventory control function.

Budget/Asset Responsibilities:
Assists VP of Finance and all divisions in the development of the annual budget for the enterprise, including expense and staff forecasting. Completes all financial reports for the company in accordance with GAAP accounting principles. Develops Corporate Finance department budget.

Leadership Responsibilities:
Direct responsibility to lead and develop all Finance Department Team Members, including managers, shift managers, supervisors, exempt, and non-exempt team members. Provides leadership, coaching and growth opportunities for Leaders and Team Members. Continuously builds an environment of engagement, trust, inclusion, open communication, creative and diverse thinking, problem solving and a collaborative team effort. Provide leadership that is in alignment with SMSC GE purpose, vision and values. Lead by setting an example where actions and behavior are consistent with values and communication. Assure that the team members have the necessary support, information and training to effectively contribute to the team. Focus the team on expectations to support objectives and stakeholders of the SMSC and SMSC GE.

Requirements

Job Duties:
  • Provides accurate operational financial data for the property. This would involve identifying new issues, enterprise department requirements and setting policy to account accurately for company revenue and expenses. Manages day to day support operations within the finance division including all account reconciliations, monitoring the cash balance for the company and performing the daily treasury functions (although the short-term cash management is limited to US Government funds).
  • Assess, identify, and facilitate process improvement within the Finance function to support the delivery of greater efficiency and better outcomes through the introduction of new ideas, methods, and processes.
  • Coordinates the enterprise annual fiscal budget process. Manages property-wide participation at all levels. Develops and implements budget software enhancements. Provides budget training for all departments. Participates in Strategic Planning activities, setting budget targets and all levels of budget review. Provides all budget reporting and oversees budget variance reporting process throughout the year.
  • Ensures systems integrity for the finance department. Balances systems capability with requests for restructuring reports. In conjunction with IT, is responsible for continuous improvement in the use of technology to meet the reporting and analysis requirements of company operations.
  • Directs enterprise inventory control warehousing, asset disposition and records management processes and efforts to safeguard assets and move product throughout the organization efficiently. This includes developing and monitoring risk control measures, particularly as relates to gaming equipment.
  • Responsible for the overall leadership, guidance, management, development, direction and performance of the corporate finance team of the SMSC Gaming Enterprise and leading all team members assigned to those departments in alignment with the enterprise purpose, vision and values. Responsible for standard staff management including interviewing, selecting, hiring, and promoting team members. This includes training, developing, performance management, performance appraisals, coaching and termination duties.
  • Manages internal and external audits. Reviews audit findings and directs timely responses. Ensures that enterprise policy and procedures are followed at all times and that financial reporting is in accordance with GAAP. Ensures regulatory compliance with all applicable provisions of the Gaming Ordinance, the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, and the Internal Revenue Code and any regulations duly adopted by the Board of Directors and the SMSC Gaming Commission.
  • Develops corporate finance department budget.
