Bachelor’s degree or education and training equivalent to four (4) years of college education in business, public administration, finance or a closely related field supplemented by one (1) to two (2) years of experience in government grant and/or loan administration- Valid South Carolina driver's license
The Community Development Specialist administers various government-supported housing loan programs, originates packages, and underwrites housing loans for qualified applicants. Must be able to explain housing and rehabilitation loan program policies and procedures to applicants, interview and pre-qualify applicants for loans, and monitor loan portfolios. Must be able to coordinate environmental inspections with real estate agents and/or property owners for home finances through City lender programs and participate in ongoing public awareness programs designed to promote department programs and services. Must be able to perform general administrative and clerical work as required including but not limited to preparing reports and correspondence, maintaining lists and logs, entering and retrieving computer data, sending and receiving correspondence, copying and filing documents, and answering the telephone.
