Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities:
The Director for the EMSS Program is responsible for the execution and continued success of the EMSS Program. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the delivery of airtime services. Additionally, he or she will be responsible for the business processes associated with the delivery of services to the EMSS Program. The Director for the EMSS Program will be responsible for the operation, enhancement, and sustainment of the US Government (USG) Gateway (GW) where the Iridium delivers satellite services to the US Government and specifically the Department of Defense (DoD). The incumbent will manage all operational aspects of USG GW including USG contracts for support, sustainment, and enhancements. The Director for the EMSS Program will manage the relationships with the EMSS Program including the USG GW staff. Additionally, the incumbent will lead the USG sales for development and support US Government contracts for the enhancements of the USG GW. The Director EMSS Program will lead the customer funded EMSS GW enhancements, and will coordinate across the other departments to ensure the support meets or exceeds the standards to achieve the business objectives for the EMSS Program. The Director for the EMSS Program will report to the Vice President, US Government Business Development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the Enhanced Mobile Satellite Service (EMSS) program
  • Oversee the US Government Gateway and oversee the delivery of the Iridium services through the US Government Gateway
  • Manage the EMSS Contracts to enhance and support the EMSS Gateway and the successful execution of the EMSS Airtime contract
  • Manage the relationships with the key EMSS Program stakeholders
  • Contact prospective customers to build relationships, advise of new products or offerings, and support team in resolving issues
  • Oversee the support process for the Iridium services
  • Oversee generation of financial reports for the EMSS Program
  • Direct analysis efforts in preparing status reports on activities in the US Government; recommend potential areas of business and new/enhanced products to management.
  • Lead the USG sales for development and support contracts to the US Government in support of the EMSS Program
  • Prepare account plans/proposal strategies and assume responsibility for the implementation of plans for new services offered through the EMSS GW
  • Drive contract negotiation, proposal development, technical support, customer service, installation, and customer training activities
  • Plan and participate in technical/product presentations/demonstrations/trade shows
  • Direct the corporate development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for current, new, and emerging technologies and services in support of the US Government
  • Work closely across all internal organizations to build productive relationships and leverage them to influence decisions that drive results supporting the business objectives from the EMSS Program

  • Excellent organizational and management skills with demonstrated ability to organize teams and projects to cost and schedule.
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to identify and understand complex issues and problems and identify and query key findings through technical and programmatic meetings.
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively present information, drive discussion, and respond to difficult scenarios with limited/no preparation across different organizations and with senior DoD officers/other senior officials.
  • Demonstrated ability to champion and build support for ideas through consensus building.
  • Persuasive, strong relationship builder, both internally and externally, with excellent networking skills to ensure the objectives of the USG team are met.
  • Strong technical background, leveraging specialized, in-depth knowledge of mobile satellite products and services or military tactical communications, to identify trends that will impact the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships and leverage them to drive results.
Experience & Education Requirements / EEO:
Education/Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in business or engineering
  • DoD TS preferred / SECRET required
  • 14+ years of experience managing the delivery of enterprise communication services to the US Government
  • Experience leading teams accomplishing complex business operations
  • Experience in creating and executing plans across multiple organizations and stakeholders
  • Experience in Federal government business opportunity assessment, preparation of customer proposals, negotiation of customer agreements and project leadership is a plus.
