Job Summary

Barings is seeking a Sustainability Analyst to join our team to support the implementation of a holistic vision and philosophy for Environmental Social Governance and sustainable investing across the firm. The person in the role will report to the Director of Sustainability and support all sustainability and ESG related activities, including product strategy considerations, communications, reporting and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support Barings' ESG/Sustainability vision and strategy
  • Enhance the ESG function and build processes to ensure best practices are incorporated into the investment process and at the portfolio level
  • Facilitate communication, both internally and externally, of the sustainability strategy and Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives
  • Build relationships with other teams supporting the investment and research process
  • Independently conduct ESG research, including understanding market trends and client needs, to drive future state vision
  • Assist in developing education and training on specific ESG risks/opportunities to investment staff
  • Supporting external ESG / sustainability reporting obligations
  • Assisting in the development and publication of thought leadership pieces
  • Respond to client inquiries and serve as liaison with internal stakeholders to develop responses related to ESG and sustainability practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required within a business or technical field (Finance, Economics, Sustainability, etc. preferred)
  • Strong understanding of data available in the investment management industry and experience in managing and accessing such data to support research efforts
  • Ability to coordinate with numerous investment professionals in a complex global environment
  • Strong communication and influencing skills when working with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience with ESG / sustainability topics and related research preferred
  • Preferred experience in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Environmental Management or similar field
  • Team-oriented and passionate about sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, and other ESG issues
  • Outstanding interpersonal characteristics, reputation, and team orientation
  • Must be able to comply with Barings’ Global Code of Ethics
